What is Second Saturday?
Second Saturday is a once a month arts and music street fest to be held on 2nd Street from Cedar to Iowa and on Iowa from Mississippi Drive to 3rd Street the second Saturday of every month from May to October. It is presented by CBI Bank & Trust and The Merrill Hotel & Conference Center in collaboration with downtown businesses. The event aims to promote the arts and culture in Muscatine and to support Muscatine’s downtown.
You are invited to participate in this seasons Muscatine Second Saturday event series. We are going into our 4th year with great energy and exciting expansions! The mission of 2nd Saturdays is to provide an amazing music, art, shopping & eating experience in Historic Downtown Muscatine!
We are adding May to the 2019 series, our kick off will be Mardi-Gras in May!
The layout has changed to create sound channels, better visibility, and better vendor placement. Please see the map on the Mediapage for details. Vendors will be placed first come, first set-up starting at Iowa on 2nd Street, filling towards Cedar Street. Special considerations will be made for electrical access and other accommodations as the committee deems necessary.
We have moved September’s event to the third Saturday this year In order to collaborate with Big Brothers Big Sisters and The Special Olympics, “Over The Edge” event!
With all of exciting changes, we would like to invite Vendors & Muscatine owned & Operated businesses to participate this new extended season for a special rate of $50!
If you know another vendor that is interested in Second Saturday, please forward this information! After their first Second Saturday Event, and want to sign up for the 2019 full season, the $15 vendor fee will be credited towards the $50 season pass!
The event will include both food and non-food vendors set up in the parking spaces along 2nd Street and Iowa Avenue, allowing pedestrians to walk on the sidewalk in front of the storefronts as well as in the center of the street. If you are interested in being a vendor during Second Saturday, please visit our Vendors page.
This portion of 2nd Street and Iowa Avenue will be closed for this event. That means that street parking will not be available during this time. The Second Saturday team will be working to make the parking situation as easy to navigate as possible for all downtown business owners, downtown residents, and event attendees.
The event will also feature musicians playing at 2 stage locations. If you are interested in playing during Second Saturday, please visit our Musicians page.
If you’d like to help us get the word out about the event, please see our Media page, where we’ve made our resources available to you!
Who are the organizers?
Second Saturday is being organized by a committee comprised of downtown business owners and community members. You can contact us with questions at any time by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. You are also free to contact Flynn Collier, Committee chair, at 563-571-1281.
How do I participate?
If you’re a downtown retails shop or restaurant, the best way to participate is by being open during the event! Please fill out the form on the Downtown Businesses page, letting us know that you’ll be open, so that we can help promote you. The form also has an opportunity for you to tell us about any special deals or activities you may have during the event. We want to be able to push people into your business and the more information we have, the better we’ll be at it!
Not a downtown business owner, but still want to participate? If you’re a musician, you can perform during Second Saturday! We’re looking for groups or single artists to perform acoustically during them and have four spaces per event. See our Musicians page for more information.
Not a musician either? If you’re a vendor, you can vend during Second Saturday! We have spaces for food, Artisan, Makers, non-profit and service providers. See our Vendors page for more information.
Not any of these things? Keep reading! There are other ways to participate. Thanks for your interest!
How can I help?
