What is Second Saturday?
Second Saturday is a once a month arts and music street fest to be held on 2nd Street between Cedar and Pine the second Saturday of every month from June to October. It is presented by CBI Bank & Trust and The Muscatine Journal in collaboration with the Muscatine Convention and Visitors Bureau. The event aims to promote the arts and culture in Muscatine and to support Muscatine’s downtown.
The event will include both food and non-food vendors set up in the parking spaces along 2nd Street, allowing pedestrians to walk on the sidewalk in front of the storefronts as well as in the center of the street. If you are interested in being a vendor during Second Saturday, please visit our Vendors page.
This portion of 2nd Street will be closed for this event. That means that street parking will not be available during this time. The Second Saturday team will be working to make the parking situation as easy to navigate as possible for all downtown business owners, downtown residents, and event attendees.
The event will also feature musicians playing acoustically on the sidewalks. If you are interested in playing during Second Saturday, please visit our Musicians page.
The Second Saturday committee is currently working on a way to encourage people to shop in the downtown businesses during the event. We’re exploring the use of the Blendcard, which a few downtown businesses have already signed up for (if you have questions about Blendcard, you can speak to Flynn Collier at We Can Frame That). It is our goal to have event attendees spend money at your stores and restaurants.

Who are the organizers?
Second Saturday is being organized by a committee comprised of downtown business owners and community members in conjunction with the Muscatine Convention and Visitors Bureau, as well as a representative of the Greater Muscatine Chamber of Commerce and Industry. You can contact us with questions at any time by emailing email@example.com. You are also free to contact Flynn Collier, Committee lead, at 563-571-1281.
How do I participate?
If you’re a downtown retails shop or restaurant, the best way to participate is by being open during the event! Please fill out the form on the Downtown Businesses page, letting us know that you’ll be open, so that we can help promote you. The form also has an opportunity for you to tell us about any special deals or activities you may have during the event. We want to be able to push people into your business and the more information we have, the better we’ll be at it!
Not a downtown business owner, but still want to participate? If you’re a musician, you can perform during Second Saturday! We’re looking for groups or single artists to perform acoustically during them and have four spaces per event. See our Musicians page for more information.
Not a musician either? If you’re a vendor, you can vend during Second Saturday! We have spaces for food, handicraft, non-profit and service providers. See our Vendors page for more information.
Not any of these things? Keep reading! There are other ways to participate. Thanks for your interest!
How can I help?
We’d love to have your partnership in this event! You can help by sponsoring — to see the sponsorship opportunities, check out the Sponsor Us! page. We’re also going to need plenty of volunteers to make sure these events run smoothly, so if you’d like to help or know of someone who would, please contact Flynn Collier at 563-571-1281 or fill out the form on the Volunteer page.
